Secret Radio

My friend Jeri has just opened her new Amazon/CafePress bookstore, offering a range of Christian fiction, non-fiction and devotional books. Among these is a hard-copy version of the fiction blog Secret Radio, an honest, thought-provoking, moving and funny account of the author's senior year at a Christian fundamentalist Bible college.

I read this blog in its original form (the author has since polished it up and added some new material in response to feedback, and you can find the revised version in progress here) and was impressed by the richness of its characterization and the believability of the scenarios it describes -- not so surprising perhaps, since many of the plot twists are based on real experiences and events.

Anyway, if you (like me) find most modern Christian fiction glib, cliched, and smugly self-congratulatory, Secret Radio is a welcome antidote -- a story where the focus is not on the spirituality and good behaviour of men, but the grace of God. Recommended.
