32 Weeks and Counting...

I went to the midwife's today and everything seems to be good -- my blood pressure's still low, abdomen measuring fine for dates, the baby's heartbeat is strong and regular, and he's obligingly turned head down (at least for the moment). My feet and hands haven't started swelling up yet, either (although last time the edema kicked in at around 34 weeks, so it may just be a matter of time).

If only this baby weren't so crazily active. My other two sons certainly kicked and moved around, and Nicholas had hiccups every day from about five and a half months gestation, but with this one it feels like I've got a popcorn machine, a stone polisher, and a team of breakdancers in there. And, of course, he always starts to party down just when I'm trying to get to sleep. Sure it's reassuring to feel vigorous movement from the baby several times a day, but sheesh, kid, would you lighten up a little?

Anyway, we still haven't settled on a name for this boy, but we've at least narrowed it down to three main contenders. Check my latest LiveJournal entry if you want to participate in a poll to help us decide, or if it won't let you do the poll, leave a comment here with your preference.

In other, somewhat related news, I've decided to give red raspberry leaf tea another chance. I drank it dutifully every day with Nicholas, but with Simon I found I couldn't stomach the stuff -- I mean "red raspberry" may sound wonderful, but in reality the stuff tastes like wet newspaper, and even adding in some spearmint or peppermint didn't help the taste much. However, it was suggested to me that it tastes much better as iced tea -- which, in this weather, is certainly a more appealing prospect than hot tea anyway. So I steeped two pots this afternoon with two-thirds red raspberry to one-third peppermint tea, and then I poured it into a container with a good dollop of honey to sweeten it (though hopefully the honey won't affect the efficacy of the tea -- does anybody with an herbal background know if it would?), and stuck it in the fridge. I'll try having a cup this evening and see how it goes...
